Revamping/Retrofit

Embrace the State of the Art.

Frigotherm Ferrari helps you bring your system up to the latest (legally permitted) state of the art. Revamping/retrofit is increasingly becoming a central aspect of our work, especially as the sustainability concept plays a significant role. Many systems no longer meet environmental standards and therefore need to undergo a lift or be replaced entirely.

This is because certain refrigerants are being phased out or banned time and again. Their GWP, the Global Warming Potential, is outside the permissible values and may no longer be used.  What work needs to be carried out on your system is clarified by our customer service in cooperation with the technical office and installation.

The Alternatives CO2 & NH3.

Since 1/1/2020, refrigerants with a GWP above 2,500 are no longer permitted. As an alternative, we offer CO2 and NH3 with a GWP of 1 and 0, respectively. But first, it must be clarified what work needs to be carried out on your premises.

One option would be to simply extract the prohibited refrigerant and introduce the permitted one - provided that the components installed in your system are compatible with the latter. If this is not the case, the system will have to be modified more extensively (mechanically, refrigeration).

On-Site Conversion.

In most cases, we can and must carry out the revamping/retrofit directly on site. The amount of work on your system depends on several factors. The most favourable scenario would be a conversion during ongoing operation by only partially shutting down the equipment, dismantling it, and revamping it directly on-site.

However, as already mentioned, a complete or partial replacement of the system or some parts and components may be necessary. Depending on the situation, a brand new system may be required, or individual pieces may have to be replaced. Here, it must be weighed up whether the work can be carried out directly on the system or whether the system must be (partially) dismantled to rebuild it in our workshop and bring it up to date.
